See the most iconic lighthouse in Door County
Quick Details
Duration: 2 Hours
Ages: 3+ Years Old
Capacity: Up to 12 People
The lakeside of Door County is often referred to as the quiet side of Door County and really, we’re OK with that. A lot of times people comment that there’s not a lot of boat traffic during our tours and that’s because most people tend to boat between Egg Harbor and Sister Bay but there’s so much more to see on the lakeside of the peninsula. There’s more lighthouses, quiet nature preserves, and the water is clearer, which is great for visibility when looking at shipwrecks.
The Lakeside Tour mainly focuses on the shipwrecks and lighthouses around Baileys Harbor and north up to the iconic Cana Island Lighthouse. After a quick stop by the Baileys Harbor Range Lights( The Ridges lighthouses), the boat takes you to the tranquil waters of Moonlight Bay with views of the Toft’s Point Nature Preserve and Bues Point, the site of an early fishing village in Door County. Then we cruise further north to Cana Island Lighthouse where you’ll get stunning 360 degree views of Cana Island. From there you’ll get an opportunity to see the old Baileys Harbor Birdcage Lighthouse, which is one of the lesser known lighthouses few people ever see. There are also a number of shipwrecks around the Birdcage Lighthouse in just 10-15 feet of water. Learn the history of the shipwrecks and lighthouses on this fun and thrilling tour of the quiet side.
The tour concludes with a slow cruise past arguably, the newest shipwreck in Door County, the Donny S. Little is known about how this boat ran aground in Baileys Harbor but since its arrival its presence has become a local controversy.
Baileys Harbor shipwreck and lighthouse tours depart from the Baileys Harbor Marina (8132 Highway 57, Baileys Harbor, WI 54202) everyday at 2:00 pm.
We cannot predict the weather conditions and sometimes depending on the wind it can be a wavy and bumpy ride, hence the name “Adventure Rafting”. We DO NOT recommend taking this tour if you are pregnant, are under the age of 3, have mobility issues, or have had back surgery or chronic back or knee problems and pain within the last year. Boarding and disembarking may be difficult and unstable for persons with mobility issues.
Make sure to bring a jacket, sunscreen, and a camera with on the tour.
